RN – Medical Stepdown / Cardiac Stepdown (3 South Unit)
Unit Overview – 3 South (Medical-Surgical Stepdown)
- 29-bed Medical-Surgical Stepdown Unit
- Specialized in caring for patients with:
- Acute Myocardial Infarction (MI)
- Cardiac Arrhythmias
- Cardiomyopathy
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Chest Pain / Cardiac Monitoring Patients
- Dedicated Stroke Unit
- Provides care for:
- Cardiology
- Renal
- Endocrinology
- General Medicine
- Pulmonology
- Gastroenterology
- Oncology patients
Clinical Skills Used on Unit
- Continuous telemetry/cardiac monitoring
- Stroke patient care
- NIH Stroke Scale assessments
- Central line care
- Blood transfusions
- Infusion therapy
- Medication administration
- Non-invasive ventilation:
- BiPAP
- CPAP
- APAP
- Cardiac and medical stepdown patient management
Required Skills & Experience
- Recent Medical-Surgical Stepdown, Telemetry, PCU, Cardiac Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience
- Strong cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation skills
- Experience caring for CHF, arrhythmia, MI, and stroke patients
- Ability to provide age-appropriate and culturally competent care
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt to change and work in a diverse healthcare environment
- Maintains patient confidentiality and professional standards
